Privacy Policy
StevenWadeSmith.com is a my personal web site, and I can be reached via e-mail at steve (at) stevenwadesmith DOT com.

For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes the visitor’s ip address (and sometimes domain names) and email address (where possible). We collect only the visitor’s IP address, the email addresses of those who post messages to our bulletin board, the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via email, the email addresses of those who make postings to our comment areas, and aggregate information on what pages visitors access or visit.

The information I collect is used for internal review and used to improve the content of our Web page, then discarded. I set any cookies only to maintain the visitor’s login state for commenting. If you supply us with your postal address or phone number online you will only receive the information for which you provided us your address. I do not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server companies. I do not and will not ever sell your information to a third-party.

Comment Policy
Leaving a comment on a blog is in a sense just like making a comment when you visit someone else’s home. The rule is simple: give respect, get respect. Any comment you make here should be treated the same way. Lively discussion is encouraged. You may disagree, but be gracious and make sure your comments add value. If you are rude or abusive, you will be shown the door.

I allow comments and trackbacks on all posts and pages, unless commenting is turned off. Anyone may add a comment regardless of point of view. However, comments from PR flacks or functionaries representing a product, company or point-of-view, specifically those that pretend to be “an average citizen” will be treated as attempts to game the system and will be deleted immediately.

Otherwise, I do not delete nor censor comments unless the content is:

  • Abusive
  • Off-topic
  • An ad hominem attack
  • Promoting hate of any kind
  • Uses excessive vulgarity
  • Spam

    • All information provided is volunteered by you. I reserve the right to edit comments for formatting purposes to maintain structure. Please use your real name where indicated. If anonymity is insisted, you are welcome to create a fictitious name. A valid email address is required so I can follow-up with you if necessary and/or to respond without adding a new comment.

    Please do not post copyrighted content in its entirety, such as a full story from another site. A brief paraphrase and a link back is preferred. Other sites work hard on their content, and they deserve the pageviews.

    All comments are filtered through spam filtering technology. Far from perfect, spam-filtering software occasionally prevents legitimate messages known as false positives. If your comment doesn’t immediately appear, it may have been flagged as spam. If it doesn’t appear in 24 hours, please contact me at steve (at) stevenwadesmith (DOT) com.

    I collect IP address/domain information and email addresses but does not save any information provided in comments and will not use this information except where indicated.

    By submitting a comment at StevenWadeSmith.com, you agree to hold this site and all future subsidiaries and representatives harmless from any and all repercussions, damages or liability.

    I reserve all rights of refusal and deletion of any and all comments and trackbacks. These policies may be amended at any time.
